The Suffolk 50 – 50 Project
50 images, 50 years, 1 unique landscape
The Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) is a fascinating and unique environment. It’s diverse landscapes and wide open skies are popular with photographers and its iconic coastal locations are well documented.
In 2020 the AONB celebrates its 50th anniversary and to mark the occasion local landscape photographer Gill Moon is co ordinating a photography project which will explore the different ways we respond, as photographers, to the same landscape. Taking part in the project with Gill are a group of amateur photographers who all attended one of Gill’s photography workshops or photo walks in 2019. The full list of participants can be found on the Photographers page.
The beauty of photography is that we all see the landscape in different ways, principally because we are all inspired by different things. This is the essence of the Suffolk 50-50 project.
Over the course of the year the Suffolk 50 – 50 project will take shape with each participating photographer working on a different theme for their panel of images. You can follow their photographic journey in the blog on this website.
The resulting 50 images will form the basis of the Suffolk 50-50 exhibition which will take place from 19th -25th November at the Art Space Gallery in Woodbridge. After the exhibition it is hoped that the photographs will be available to view in a series of pop up events in libraries and other community buildings along the Suffolk Coast.
A digital version of the exhibition will also be available with images added to this website in November.
All of the 50 images in the exhibition are available to purchase as limited edition prints with a percentage of the sales going directly to the AONB to support future work in the landscape.
